Experienced Tax CPA – Flexible Part-Time / Seasonal

Koehler, Ruxer, Walker & Co., LLC is an established CPA firm with over 30 years in business located on the north side of Indianapolis. We are seeking an experienced CPA to join our team and provide tax return review and complex tax preparation support, primarily during our busy tax season.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys tax work and client relationships and is seeking a flexible schedule without the demands of a traditional full-time public accounting position.

We understand that everyone's ideal work arrangement looks a little different and are open to tailoring the position, schedule, and responsibilities to create the right fit for both the candidate and our firm.

Position Details

• In-office position at our northside Indianapolis location
• Flexible schedule during traditional tax busy seasons, generally 20–40 hours per week
• Off-season scheduling flexibility, with the option for seasonal or year-round involvement

Key Responsibilities

• Review federal and state tax returns, including business (partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations), individual, and trust income tax returns
• Prepare more complex tax returns as needed
• Research tax issues and provide practical recommendations
• Assist with tax planning and advisory services as needed
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and resolve tax matters
• Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality client service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting
• Active CPA license required
• Minimum of 5 years of public accounting tax experience; additional experience preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of business, individual, and trust income taxation
• Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with CCH ProSystem fx Tax is a plus
